3D Robotics
also known as Humanoid Robotics

Dr. Manish Shah has always been a stalwart in the field of joint replacement surgeries — with more than 30 years of experience. For him, any technology that adds value to the patient's outcome is adopted faster. He is the pioneer of the most advanced and revolutionary technology in knee, hip and shoulder replacement under the brand name of 3D Robotics from Arthro3D — first of its kind in the world and globally patented.

The technology

What is 3D Robotics in joint replacement?

The world presently follows X-Ray-based understanding of the patient's knee, hip or shoulder to plan the surgery — or robotics that can use only one type of implant from a specific company. This leads to a massive increase in cost without any incremental benefit to the patient.

Dr. Manish Shah and his team at Shah Hospital are highly trained to handle AI-based 3D Robotics technology that plans the surgery considering the minutest details of the anatomy of the region. The pre-planning technology is fully AI-based and provides the surgeon with the most accurate measurements for a very personalized surgery plan and a very personalized implant selection for the patient.

AI-based 3D robotic planning with personalized instruments is the only known technology in replacements to decrease surgical time without additional incisions and bone violations. It adds immense incremental benefit for the patient: the personalized implant, perfect personalized size, and personalized positioning best suited for the patient — ensuring greater longevity and fast-track recovery without painful physiotherapy.

Advanced Patient Journey

The 3D Robotics Surgical Workflow

An end-to-end overview of our surgical workflow, powered by the 3D Robotics 3D joint-mapping and reconstruction system to guarantee optimal implant alignment.

01
Stage One

CT Scan of Knees

The workflow begins with a specialized, high-resolution CT scan of the patient’s knee. This captures the complete bone architecture in fine detail, providing the raw volumetric data (DICOM files) that will form the basis of the entire customization process.

Stage Two

3D Bone Modeling

The CT scan files are processed to build an incredibly accurate, patient-specific 3D virtual model of the knee joint. This allows the surgical team to examine the patient’s precise anatomy, deformities, and bone density in three dimensions before stepping into the operating theater.

Stage Three

Surgical Landmarks with 3D Robotics

Using the specialized 3D Robotics system, critical clinical landmarks and mechanical alignment axes are precisely plotted on the virtual 3D bone model. This step helps identify anatomical guide points tailored to the patient’s unique skeletal structure.

Stage Four

Perfect match is obtained through AI

An advanced simulator searches and evaluates multiple implant designs and sizing options from all available leading manufacturers. The surgeon finds the absolute best fit, confirming the optimal rotation, alignment, and joint coverage in the virtual model.

Stage Five

Surgical Planning Complete

Once the ideal implant and coordinates are selected, the surgical planning is finalized. The 3D Robotics software calibrates customized guides and templates (reusable custom jigs) to replicate this virtual planning inside the operating room with high fidelity.

Patient's Outcome is Best

Because of the exact, pre-planned fit and alignment, surgery time is reduced, decreasing risk of infection. The knee joint moves naturally, resulting in minimal pain, rapid rehabilitation, and an excellent, long-lasting clinical outcome for the patient.

The 3D Robotics personalized surgical jig — fabricated from each patient's CT scan.

AI-based 3D Robotics planning produces a personalized surgical jig — fabricated specifically for each patient from their CT scan. The jig guides the surgeon during the procedure, reducing surgical time and ensuring the implant lands in its perfect position.

This is the only known technology in joint replacements that decreases surgical time without additional incisions or bone violations. It's globally patented under the 3D Robotics brand.
